Hello Nishta. I can't believe my luck in finding you. I worked with your father in 1982-84 and remember the day you were born. I honestly think he was the happiest man I have ever known. Your mother used to spoil all of us in the office by sending us wonderful things to eat almost every week that I worked there. I still remember like it was yesterday. Every Thursday or Friday Subhash would bring in the newest surprise from Veena and we all crowded around to see what it was.... to smell the amazing aromas and to sample the delicious dishes, most of which were new and unfamiliar to all of us. Sometimes sweet, sometimes savory, but always lovingly prepared and given. We all bonded over those weekly experiences and I have thought about your parents so often over the years. I did not know your father had passed away until just this morning when I did a search for him on Google and found his obituary as well as your blog "Accidental Summer Soundtrack". I read the last half with tears clouding the view of my computer screen, but it made me determined to try to find a way to communicate with you. I am so deeply sorry for your loss, Nishta. Your father was one of my favorite people I have ever known. Please feel free to write to me on the email address I provided. Please give a warm hug to your mother for me. I only wish your father was still around so I could send one to him, too. Take care, and I wish you all the best.

Peggy Parker
P.S. So happy to find your website, too! It really looks like something I will enjoy following regularly. BTW, you are truly a gifted writer.

I love your website. You have some great insight on life. I will be a follower for here on out. I know, I sound country, can’t help it I am. Any of your eighth graders pick up your pearls of wisdom? I certainly hope so. I’m going to refer your site to my eighteen year old daughter. Your love of food, live and people are contagious. dd
